Chandigarh, Well-known Punjabi singer-actor Harbhajan Mann Thursday kicked off the auction of the costumes worn by him and his co-artitst Neeru Bajwa in the forthcoming Punjabi film “Heer Ranjha”.
“We are inviting bidders to make the highest bid for the dresses worn by me and Neeru Bajwa in ‘Heer Ranjha’. Bidders can bid through internet or by calling the orgainsers. The money will go to an orphanage,” said Mann while talking to reporters.
The auction is organised by these actors in association with the magazine Tricity Calling.
Talking about his film, Mann said: “This is for the first time that the story of ‘Heer Ranjha’ is being told on big screen in Punjabi language since Independence. We researched a lot before starting the project. It is based on ‘Heer’ that was written by legendary Warish Shah in 1760s.”
“We have tried our best to do justice with costumes, locations and incidents that we have included in ‘Heer Ranjha’ and we are expecting an encouraging response from the audiences,” said Mann.
“Heer Ranjha” will have a worldwide release Friday.
Mann is instrumnental in reviving Punjabi film industry along with director-producer Manmohan Singh. “Gradually Punjabi cinema has made its niche across the world,” he said.
