Mohandas - Review

Mohandas – Review

Posted on 04 Sep 2009 at 9:03pm
As Mohandas Nakul delivers a quiet and restrained performance. We never catch him acting. Also effective are Sonali as the television journalist who takes interest in the case only to a point, and Sushant as the unscrupulous man who takes over Mohandas's identity.

Kisaan – Review

Sohail Khan is the most underrated Khan in the film industry. But Sohail knows his craft and he uses it with transparency in comic roles and in this intense melodrama called "Kisaan".

Daddy Cool – Review

Why remake a shoddy, tasteless British comedy? Why be so fixated on Western entertainment when we've so much literary and pulp talent out here? Just leave aside these vital questions and focus on the ensemble cast of "Daddy Cool" that sparkles with borrowed wit. The Goan setting and the quaint rooms housing distraught emotions keep us smiling.

Love Khichdi – Review

Ultimately, "Love Khichdi" may not be the prefect health diet but is decent enough to be a one time watch. As for Randeep, he can rest assured that regardless of the film's fate at the box office, he would be seen in a new light from here on. He doesn't have the usual 'stud boy' role in the film and still manages to shine in most of his scenes.

Sikandar – Review

Posted on 21 Aug 2009 at 8:42pm
There aren't too many characters in this film. The politicians, terrorists and clerics form a muffled circle of cleaned-out conflict, and that suits the film's purposes fine as long as the drama doesn't get diluted.

Life Partner – Review

Posted on 16 Aug 2009 at 4:51pm
Nonetheless "Life Partner" is a decent inoffensive marital comedy mostly free of double-meanings. Rumi Jaffrey's direction is most of the time even in tone. But the last half hour with its screeching sermonizing gets on to slippery ground.

Kaminey – Review

"Kaminey" is one of the few must watch films of 2009. From narrative to execution -- Bharadwaj shows that he knows the art of creating a new world of cinema and lays out a road ahead for many aspiring filmmakers.

Before The Rains – Review

Posted on 14 Aug 2009 at 12:20pm
"Before The Rains" is a far more accomplished piece of cinema than its routine theme suggests. Carefully crafted and narrated in soft silken tones designed for aesthetic comfort, the film shows us how the thin line between passion and tragedy is crossed.
