56th Filmfare Awards 2011 winners list


katrina kaif filmfare awards 2011 200x248 BollywoodWorld.com, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol won the best actor and actress award respectively for “My Name Is Khan” at the 56th Filmfare Awards Saturday, which was ruled by small budget movie “Udaan” that bagged as many as eight trophies.

Karan Johar walked away with the best director award for “My Name Is Khan”, while Salman Khan starrer “Dabangg” was declared the best film at the gala event, hosted by Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan. The two were at their wittiest best.

But it’s the first-time director Vikramaditya Motwane’s “Udaan” that bagged maximum awards. The film won the best screenplay and the best story for Motwane and Anurag Kashyap; best cinematography for Mahendra Shetty; best background score for Amit Trivedi; best supporting actor male for Ronit Roy; and best film (jury).

“Udaan” also won the best director (jury) award for Motwane and best sound design for Kunal Sharma. Pritam Das also won the same award for “Love Sex Aur Dhokha”.

“Dabangg”, the most successful film of 2010, won five awards including best action for Vijayan Master; best debutant female for Sonakshi Sinha; and best music for Sajid-Wajid and Lalit Pandit.

Namrata Sharma won the best female singer for “Munni” in “Dabangg” and shared it with Sunidhi Chauhan, who won it for “Sheila ki jawani” (“Tees Maar Khan”).

Light-hearted romantic film “Band Baaja Baaraat” walked away with three awards – best debut director for Manish Sharma, best debut actor male for Ranveer Singh and best dialogue trophy for Habib Faisal.

Habib Faisal’s directorial venture “Do Dooni Chaar”, about a middle-class family, too bagged three awards – best production design for Mukund Gupta; best costume for Varsha and Shilpa; and Rishi Kapoor walked away with the best actor (jury) trophy for playing a mathematics teacher who goes through various problems to buy a car.

Farah Khan walked away with the best choreography award for “Sheila Ki Jawani” from her directorial venture “Tees Maar Khan”.

The best male singer award went to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for crooning “Dil toh baccha hai ji” in “Ishqiya” and the song also won best lyrics award for Gulzar.

Vidya Balan got the best actress (jury) award for playing a conniving and scheming woman in “Ishqiya”.

Kareena Kapoor walked away with best supporting actress for “We Are Family”.

Namrata Rao won the best editing award for her work in Dibakar Banerjee’s experimental film “Love Sex Aur Dhokha”.

Ninety-year-old legendary singer Manna De got the lifetime achievement award, while Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan was honoured for his forty years in Hindi cinema and his so-called arch rival Shah Rukh Khan gave him the award.

    Perfect Choice for the Best Actor, Best Actress & the Best Director Shahrukh Khan, Kajol & Karan Johar for My Name is Khan but really bad choice for the Best Film for Dabangg because it can’t deserve this awards & also nothing impressive in it to win the Best Film Award.

    Are you kidding me? They did not had any other contenders for this category and Shahrukh gets the award for the best actor whats surprising in that, he might get it every year for nothing. I hope we had something like Razzy Awards for worst actor and worst actress, Shahrukh and Kajol deserve that too. As far as Kajol is concerned, she just buys the award if she does any film in a a year.

    Shahrukh have again proved that still he is ‘the best’. There is no one 2 compete Shahrukh.
    Shahrukh & Kajol both looks beauuutiful in movie. ‘My name is khan’ deserve the best film because i thnk it is the first indian movie which is released in more than one country with their respective languages. Keep rocking Shahrukh. May Allah bless you.

    Dabaang was jsut a hype by the makers. Salman only remains by his publicity.Dabaang was the worst film i ever seen, only the fight direction was upto marks. Salman only does the same in all the film, his OVERACTING. I was very happy that he didnt received any awards. You rock filmfare, perfect choice for the one who deserves.

    As usual, this award is given to slected few and those who are closest to the industry which is BS. Salman did an excellent job In Dabang so did Hirtik in Guzarrish.

    Filfare award has become SRK’s pet for last few years..probably for last decade. It was surprising to see him winning an award for a low grade film like Ramjaane, where his acting was not even upto the mark. This time filmfare did it again..
    I am not sure, if the rumor(Shahrukh pays money to buy those awards) are true or not.. but this it really feels like it is.
    If anyone deserves best actor award, it should have been Hrithik for Guzarish or Ajay Devgn for Once upon a time in Mumbai..if commercial succcess was to be considered than, none Salman deserves it.. No way SRK deserves it. So doesn’t Kajal. Vidya, Kangana acted far better than she did in MNK. So far.. among all the award shows.. APSARA award was the most fair one.

    Hrithik acting in guzaarish was outstanding.but award got sharukh because of karan film.remember … in 2007 hrithik won all awards from krrish but only filmfare give him award for dhoom2.because of yash raj films.
    Hrtihik should not attened filmefare in future.

    Best awards were gone to a fantacy movie.
    May be the pannel of judges and the people are not much concern about realistic movies.. “Guzarish” was a real artistic movie and “Once a pone a time in Mombai” is a realistic movie according to me and my choice. I still couldn’t watch “Udaan”

    Actually the nominations were good and perfect. All of them deserve it. However, the choice of winners were wrong. In my opinion, the award ceremony was like a joke. The person who deserve it didn’t get. So please make sure about the jury, who finalizing the awards.
